The Best Pool Table Light Alternative: Hang a Mini Jumbotron®

2 min read

A pool table light does one job. A Mini Jumbotron® hangs in the same spot, lights up the room with smart LED recessed lighting, and puts the game on four TVs that everyone around the table can see. It's the perfect alternative to the boring pool table light.

How high should it hang over a pool table?

We recommend choosing a model that puts the bottom of the unit 6 to 7 feet from the floor. At that height:

  • It stays out of your line of sight while you shoot.

  • The TVs sit at a comfortable viewing angle from anywhere in the room.

If people will walk under it rather than play under it, choose a model that hangs about 7 feet from the floor so it clears most heads.

Each model's overall installed height is shown in its first photo and its description on our Models & Pricing page. Have taller ceilings? Any model can be lowered with an extension pole and connector coupling.

What the installation involves

Installing a Mini Jumbotron® is about as difficult as installing a ceiling fan, and most customers do it themselves. The unit hangs from a 1.5″ NPT pole that threads into an included flat ceiling mount. The basic steps:

  • Install the ceiling mount and screw in the mounting pole.

  • Attach the frame (minor assembly required).

  • Attach the TV mounts and the base.

  • Position and plug in the lighting.

  • Attach your TVs, then install your graphics and the plexiglass panels.

You'll also need a standard electrical outlet on the ceiling near the mounting spot. Please consult a professional to confirm whether extra reinforcement is needed for your model's size and weight. Sloped and angled ceiling mounts are available too — see our installation page.
